DESCRIPTION: The Power and Practice of Nonviolent Struggle provides an introduction to strategic nonviolent action. It contains a condensation of Dr. Gene Sharp’s analysis from his groundbreaking 1973 work The Politics of Nonviolent Action, as well as brief accounts of nonviolent struggle around the world. It also includes chapters on political applications and strategic planning for nonviolent struggle. In his Foreword to this book, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has writes. “I congratulate and commend the publication of this book about nonviolent struggle, written by Dr. Gene Sharp.... I expect that the publication of this work on nonviolent action in the Tibetan language will become an instrument that will widely open the door of knowledge of the Tibetan people on the subject.” The Venerable Samdhong Rinpoche, Chairman of the Kashag (the Tibetan Government-in-Exile’s Executive Cabinet) and Chairman of the Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Centre, wrote an Introduction to the book. |
