JACK DUVALL, President
Jack DuVall is the President and founding
Director of the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict. He
was the Executive Producer of the two-part Emmy-nominated PBS
television series, “A
Force More Powerful,” and co-author of the companion
book of the same name (Palgrave/St. Martin’s Press 2001).
Mr. DuVall has spoken often at universities
and policy institutes, including Antioch College, the Carnegie
Council on Ethics and International Affairs, Colorado College,
Columbia University, Dalhousie University (Nova Scotia), Harvard
Divinity School, the Justice Institute of British Columbia, Kansas
State University, the Monterey Institute of International Studies,
Northwestern University School of Law, the Palestine Center (Washington,
D.C.), Portland State University (Oregon), the Salon international
des Initiatives de Paix à la Cité des sciences et
de l'industrie de la Villette (Paris), the Southampton Institute
(UK), Stanford University, the State University of New York/Stony

His media appearances have included the BBC
News, MSNBC’s Nachman Show, ABC NewsChannel 8 (Washington,
DC), ABC TV (Australia), CBC (Canada), CBS Radio, National Public
Radio, NewsChannel 12 (Long Island) and RadioNation. His op-eds
and articles have appeared in publications including the Harvard
International Review, the International Herald Tribune, Le Monde,
the Boston Globe, Newsday, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Christian
Science Monitor, and the Age (Melbourne, Australia). He has also
been cited in such publications as the New York Times, Los Angeles
Times, the Financial Times, The Nation, Vancouver Sun, and U.S.
News and World Report.
Mr. DuVall has also also been a public television
executive and writer. For 16 years he developed, marketed, executive-produced,
and promoted non-fiction television programming, with clients
including the Turner Broadcasting System, The Learning Channel,
KCET/Los Angeles, WTVS/Detroit, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation,
the Committee on the Constitutional System, and over 30 other
commercial television and non-profit organizations. Mr. DuVall
was also Vice President for Program Resources of WETA, Washington,
DC, and previously was Director of Corporate Relations of the
University of Chicago; Director of Industry Compliance, Cost of
Living Council, Executive Office of the President; and an officer
in the U.S. Air Force. His writing includes speeches for presidential
candidates in four national campaigns.
He holds a B.A. degree (cum laude) from Colgate
University and serves as a member of the board of sponsors of
Morehouse College (Atlanta, Georgia) and an associate of the Centre
for Justice and Peace Development at Massey University (Auckland,
New Zealand).
