Since May 2018, Lilit Makunts is Majority Leader in Parliament, and previously served as Minister of Culture of Armenia. Previously, she was an Associate Professor at the Russian-Armenian University in Yerevan. As a student, she was actively engaged in civic and political initiatives to promote democratic changes in Armenia. For eight years she was a board member of Liberal Party of Armenia and the head of the LPA youth organization (2004-2012). Since June 2012, she has been fostering civic awareness both in Yerevan and rural areas of Armenia. Starting from 2015, she has also been advocating for the knowledge of nonviolent resistance for grassroots and political party members. She is an ICNC Curriculum Fellow (2016-17) and an ICNC Summer Institute alumna (2015).
