Theo Roncken is a Dutch community psychologist with extensive on-the-ground experience in Bolivia (1993-2019) and Nicaragua (1985-1991). He developed community-based psychosocial support for traumatized children and conducted action research with a variety of local stakeholders and a focus on social justice. Major areas of attention are youth, active citizenship, and social conflict; migration and local development; and community responses for safety and security policy. Research in Bolivia was coordinated with the local platform Acción Andina and the Universidad Mayor de San Simón in Cochabamba, among others. Theo currently lives in Utrecht (Netherlands).
