Sara Vazquez Melendez

Sara Vazquez Melendez is an anthropologist, farmer, activist and civil resistance educator in Ponce, Puerto Rico. In 2018, she founded the School of Civil Resistance No’j, whose purpose is to document the history of civil resistance in Puerto Rico, as well as spread knowledge of past civil resistance cases throughout history. By highlighting food sovereignty issues in Puerto Rico, a foundational block for acquiring political power, her work seeks to promote alternative modes of resistance through agriculture.
